Trat to Nakhon Nayok |
Nakhon Nayok is on the edge of Khao Yai, a very popular destination for Thais, especially from Bangkok. There is a National Park here and it is also noted for some vineyards. We have been to the area before, so for us, this was just a stopping off point on our way North. Our journey time was about 4 1/2 hours from Trat and we passed through some rather uninspiring scenery in Sai Kaeow Province on the way here. We arrived at the Phumontra Hotel around 1 pm and were very pleasantly surprised by the hotel and its location by the side of the Nayok River. There was a large swimming pool and the whole resort appeared to be beautifully maintained. We spent a relaxing afternoon on our own, as no one else turned up, by and in the pool together with a couple of beers. Being a predominantly Thai resort hotel, the food was particularly good and the beers cheap - 100 THB for a large Chang. Cheers!
