We spent the last few days in Bangkok doing some shopping, meeting friends for Sunday Brunch, getting our booster vaccine and having a farewell dinner on Monday evening at Wine Connection. Sunday Brunch was at Bistro 33, a restaurant well known to us that provide a roast brunch with starters of soup, salad, smoked salmon and various cuts of cold meat, all of which is excellent value at 650 baht per person. We rounded off the day with more drinks in O'Shea's an establishment that had become our favourite watering hole whilst in Bangkok. On Friday, I happened to be in the vicinity of Medpark Hospital and called in to see if it was possible to get a booster vaccine. They were very kind and indicated that I could make an online appointment for free jabs which I promptly did for the following Monday for both Ann and myself. Monday arrived and we set off for our booster vaccines. As the heavens opened we jumped in a taxi to complete the journey. Medpark staff were excellent and the whole operation was performed in about 25 minutes with a minimum of fuss. I was slightly perturbed about the injection as we had heard several reports of people feeling unwell after a Pfizer booster jab and I had to drive to Trat the following day. Dinner at Wine Connection with a bottle of wine was excellent and we retired to bed after having packed up the car ready for the long drive on Tuesday. We had enjoyed our sojourn in Bangkok but were equally looking forward to the next part of our journey.

We set off at around 6 am in the dark amidst quite heavy traffic despite the hour with, thankfully, no aftereffects from the previous day's vaccination. It was a rather grey day, and we did run through several rain showers before arriving at our destination - Centara Hotel, Chaan Talay, Trat Province. The sun did come out and we chilled on the sunbeds on the beautiful beach before we had a massive thunderstorm at what should have been sunset. We are not quite sure what is happening with the weather as it is supposedly the dry season and, up to now, we have experienced lots of rain that has yet to dampen our spirits. Eventually, the booster jabs took their toll as we succumbed to tiredness and retired early to bed.
