Road Trip, Thailand, Phayao to Lampang
|
Another short trip today to Lampang. This is another city like Chiang Rai and Chiang Saen that used to be part of the Lanna Kingdom that was overrun by the Burmese before being incorporated into Siam (Thailand).
The previous day, we visited Chiang Kham which is very close to the Laos border. There are many ethnic Tai Lue people, originally from China living here who are believed to have migrated 2 centuries ago. In actual fact they are indistinguishable from the Northern Thai people unless they are wearing traditional dress.

In Phayao, we found a restaurant on the lake that we liked so much we went on both evenings we were there. So Good lived up to its name with extremely good food presented in generous proportions at a very reasonable price. (Much cheaper than we can find in Phuket).
